History
Edgar Spurgeon came to Edson in 1907 while working on the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. When it was discovered he could work a movie projector, he was invited to become a partner in the Idyl Hour Theatre with Mr. Jack Anderson. Mr. Spurgeon also operated a local photo studio and one of his innovations was to take pictures of local residents during the week and project them on the screen every Friday night. There was always a full house. He left Edson with numerous, well labelled, local photographs. He enlisted in World War I and returned to Edson but felt surveying had a brighter future in Western Canada than motion pictures. [Edson 75 Years]
