Biographical history

The band was founded in 1970 by John Kaminski, Dr. William Cuts, Jerry Wennes and Gerry Buccini. There were different sized band over the years. There are two sub groups, Jazz Band and Concert Band, as well as other ensemble groups. It is a non-profit society with the director being a paid staff member. They rehearsed at Sir George Simpson Junior High School for the first five years. Since then they have rehearsed weekly at Paul Kane High School whose instruments they sometimes borrow, and have two major concerts, annually, at the Arden Theatre. Conductors have been Jerry Wennes, 1970, Bob Heuermann, Peter Holt, Gene Osoba, Tom Smyth, Bill Coates, and Walter Boldt. Jazz Band leaders were Rob King, Bruce Hoadley, and Tom Smyth. The records were created by Gerry Buccini, President. In 1994 the membership was surveyed for its opinion on an international tour.
