Administrative history
A St. Andrew's Society was organized in Claresholm, Alberta in 1922. Membership was confined to those born in Scotland or of Scottish descent. By the mid-1930s there were about sixty members. Attempts were made to interest people in the Claresholm area in Scottish traditions through lectures, Scottish plays, music and dancing. The driving force behind the society was local lawyer, J. Ralston Watt. The society discontinued its activities in 1938 except for a brief revival in 1947.
