St. Joseph's College is established under the authority of the Roman Catholic Church. It received affiliation in 1926 and opened its residence on campus in 1927. From 1927 to 1963 it was directed by the Christian Brothers (Brothers of the Christian Schools - FSC); since 1963 the Basilian Fathers (Congregation of St. Basil - CSB) have been its directors.
