Administrative history

St. Rita's Separate School District No. 27 was established in Rockyford, Alberta in 1926. Three years later an Ursuline Convent was built and the Ursuline nuns provided teachers for the school. A new school building was built in 1960. Beginning in the late 1960s there was considerable collaboration with the local public school and in 1976 they amalgamated under the name Rockyford-St. Rita's School Division. The division was dissolved in August 1981. For further information see "History - St. Rita's Separate School" in Rockyford : Where We Crossed the Creek and Settled / Rockyford and District History Book Society, 1980, p. 102.

Custodial history

The records were brought to the Diocesan archives in the mid-1980s by a relative of archivist Sister Leone Henke. In 2016 they were transferred to Glenbow.

Scope and content
