Biographical history

Tannis Allison, 1880-1966, was the daughter of North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) superintendent Albert Shurtleff and his wife Julia Wood Shurtleff, of Fort Macleod, Alberta. She was christened Lillian Wood Shurtleff but was known as Tannis. Her father died in 1885 and in 1887 her mother married Daniel Webster Marsh of Calgary. In 1908 Tannis married Harry A. Allison, ?-1965, a Calgary lawyer.

The fonds consists of diaries (1894, 1901-1902); photographs of the family, Calgary personalities, and ranching (1899-1922); and miscellaneous family correspondence, certificates, and invitations.
