Biographical history

Terence Oldford, b. 1919, was born in the Horn Hill district near Red Deer, Alberta. He was educated in Horn Hill, Red Deer, Penhold, at the University of Alberta, and at the Officers Training School at Gordon Head near Victoria, B.C. During the Second World War he served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps (RCASC). After the war he remained in the Militia and organized the 51st General Transport Company, RCASC. In 1955 he retired with the rank of major. By 1990 he was living in Victoria, B.C. He married Kathleen Thompson, and they had four sons, Terence John "Terry", David, Robert, and Timothy

Scope and content

The fonds includes Red Deer High School student newspapers and yearbooks (1930s); a pamphlet on the history of the Red Deer Rotary Club (1955); postcard depicting the interior of the Club Cafe, Red Deer (ca. 1960); maps and photographs from Terence Oldford's military career in Alberta and in Europe; and an autobiographical account of his military career (1990)
