Biographical history
Thomas Kay was born in Rochdale, England, around 1867. He immigrated to Canada in 1894, journeyed across Canada to British Columbia where he travelled, ranched, prospected and found employment in various capacities. He travelled to the Yukon in 1898. Thomas Kay died on December 19, 1909, at 42 years of age.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of one microfilm copy of Thomas Kay's papers: a journal, April to December 1894, describing Kay's voyage from Liverpool to Canada, and his trip across Canada from Halifax to British Columbia; a journal July [1895] to March 30 [1896], describing the trip to the Klondike Gold Fields in the Yukon; letters to family members, March 30, 1895 to May 1900; and photographs, one of Thomas Kay and one of his tombstone.
