Biographical history

George Cecil Topley, 1885-1959, was born near Port Hope, Northumberland County, Ontario. He moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1905 and worked in the real estate and insurance industry for over 40 years. The family often visited Banff National Park. He was a member of the Sandstone Lodge of the Oddfellows, the Golden Age Club and the Calgary Lawn Bowling Club. He and his wife Rose L., ?-1952, had one daughter, Margaret R., ca. 1916-1990s.

Custodial history

This album was created by the Topley family and upon the death of Margaret it was acquired by the Redmond family.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of an album of photographs of trips to the Rocky Mountains, including views of hiking and mountain climbing.
