Administrative history

The Board Designate of the University of Lethbridge was appointed by the Minister of Education of Alberta on October 17, 1966. It became the Board of Governors when the University was established on January 1, 1967. Under the provisions of the Universities Act it is responsible for the management and control of the University and of its property, revenue, business, and affairs. It consists of the Chancellor, the President, a Chairman, and other members representing alumni, faculty, students, and the general public. It originally consisted of 7 members, but by 1977 it was expanded to 24 members.

The fonds consists of minutes and correspondence of the Board of Governors, and of the Executive Committee, Finance Committee, Building Committee, and other committees; correspondence of chairmen N. D. Holmes, B. L. Thacker, and R. P. M. North; budgets; and reports from retreats and seminars.
