Biographical history

Mr. and Mrs. Gus A. Wagner and Gus' brother Richard Wagner immigrated from Beatrice, Nebraska, to Millet, Alberta, in 1908. J. Clifford Wagner (1893-1976), Gus' son, was an active member of the community.

Custodial history

The album had been in the custody of J. C. Wagner before being donated to the Millet and District Historical Society by his son Bill in 1989. The Bible was donated in 2007 by Troy Wagner, grandson of Richard Wagner. The eight black and white photos were donated in 2006 by Troy Wagner.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of an album of tintype and albumen photographs of ancestors of the Wagner family, and printed cartes-de-visite of political and popular personalities of the time. Persons identified in the album include Mollie Webb, Spencer McColliety, G.W. Timmerman, Curtis Merrill, C.H. Slawson, Sadie Timmerman. Places identified include Spring Hill, Ill; Prophetstown, Ill; Eric, Ill. There is also a family Bible belonging originally to Alice Clifford, Gus's mother who purchased it in 1873 in Spring Hill, Ill.
