Biographical history
Walter Edwin Gover was a member of the Medicine Hat Police Force from 1911 to 1918. He had formerly been on the staff at H.M. Prison Wormwood Scrubs in London, England. In 1914, Mr. Gover was made a Sargeant and was paid a salary of $95.00 per month. At the time there were 17 men on the local force. Mr. Gover may have also been employed at the City Meat Market in 1923, after having been dismissed from the local force for charges of Malicious Prosecution and Improper Conduct. It appears that Mr. Gover left town shortly after this time.
