History

Westminster United Church was establaished in 1925 upon the creation of The United Church of Canada from a union of the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational denominations. The origin of the congregation is from the Albany Avenue Methodist Church that was established in Edmonton in 1912. At the time of union the congregation chose the name of Westmount United Church. In 1947, the congregation changed its name to Westminster United Church when it moved into a new church building at 124 street and 113 avenue. Westminister United Church existed until 1991 when it joined with Kirk United Church in Edmonton.
