Biographical history
William D. Taylor was the son of Sarah and Isaac Taylor (co-founder of the chain of Taylor and Drury stores in the Yukon). William was born in Whitehorse in 1912. He went to high school in Victoria and after graduating spent a year working at the Seattle Fur Exchange learning the fur business and studying accounting. He returned to the Yukon and continued to be involved in the family business. In 1935, he married Aline Arbour Cyr. They had 2 children: Vincent and Marilyn. William Taylor owned and managed Taylor Chevrolet. He was also active in the Kiwanis Club, the Yukon Order of Pioneers, the Masonic Lodge, and was a Whitehorse City Alderman and a member of the Whitehorse City planning board.

Scope and content
The collection consists of photographs of the steamers Thistle and Kluahne and a homemade snowmobile at Champagne, Yukon. Identified people include Frank Slim, John Drury, Isaac Taylor, Charlie Burns, Harold Newton, Albert Taylor, Norman Ryder and Captain Jackson.
