Biographical history

William George Bruce Gant, 1927-2010, was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and grew up in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He studied geological engineering at the Montana School of Mines and worked for H.C. Price of Canada in construction administration. He also worked for the Alyeska Pipeline and the Mannix Consortium. Gant became manager of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce in 1984 from which he retired in 1988. He was a honorary life member of the Pipeline Contractors' Association, director of the Calgary Stampede, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Calgary Economic Development Council, and United Way of Calgary. He was also an elder at St. Andrew's United Church. Gant was extremely active in the Rotary Club and was president of his club and a District Governor. He and his wife Louise (Redmond) had three daughters Patti (Rippon), Sharon and Nancy.
