Biographical history

Teacher, Author, 1898-1981. Scottish-born William Towrie Cutt graduated from the University with BEd and MA degrees. Besides working in Alberta as a teacher from 1928 to 1963, he was an author of books for young people. His titles include On the Trail of Long Tom (1970), Seven for the Sea (1972), and Faraway World (1977).

Fonds consists of these series: I Biographical (1970-1981). Includes an obituary; a review. II Correspondence (1941-1982). Mainly with publishers. III Draft manuscripts ([ca. 1950]-1979). IV Galley proofs (1970-1973). V Photographs (1916-[196-]). Relating mainly to Manitoba (14 images). VI Short stories (1942- 1958). VII Student essays (1941-1950). Includes criticism by F.M. Salter. VIII Workbooks [ca. 1964]. Most of the records relate to the writing of Mr. Cutt's books for children.
