Biographical history

In the spring of 1902, Harvey Woolley decided to move west from Ontario. When he was settled, his father made arrangements to come west as well. On April 6, 1903, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Woolley, their 6 children, stock, and 2 carloads of belongings left Ontario and arrived on April 17 in Dunmore. They bought a half section of land across the road from the Feldman Lake school where Alex Woolley raised prize cattle. Later, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Woolley, another of Alex's sons, came and settled 5 miles S.E. of the school. Lloyd was one of the men who constructed Finlay Bridge in the fall of 1906 and the winter of 1907. During that time, he was injured and lost an eye due to a flying piece of stone. Lloyd Woolley retired in 1941 and moved to Medicine Hat.
