Biographical history

Wyn van der Schee was born in Holland and raised in Simcoe, Ontario. He graduated from the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario in 1964 and joined the Canadian military. He completed his service in 1975 in Calgary and worked for CIL for two years before joining the City of Calgary. From 1990 until 2002 he was Recycling Coordinator for the City. He was active in the Recyling Council of Alberta and the Tire Recycling Management Association of Alberta. He was also involved with several military history organizations in Calgary. He is the author of Nominal Rolls : 50th Battalion, 1914-1915, and 3rd, 12th and 13th Regiments Canadian Mounted Rifles, both published by the Alberta Family Histories Society in 1994. He also contributed an essay to The Past, Present and Future of the Militia / Jim Hanson and Peter Hammerschmidt, eds. -- Ottawa : Canadian Institute of Strategic Studies, 1998. He retired to Kingston, Ontario. Van der Schee and his wife had two children: Jennifer and David.
