Biographical history

Zera Strong came to Dawson in 1897 from Ontario where he had attended college to become a veterinary surgeon. While in Ontario, he also ran races and used the prize money to finance his education. He was named Champion Runner of Canada in 1885. In Dawson, he married Jean Stearns, who was originally from Carleton Place, Ontario and also lived in Verdon, Manitoba. The Strongs lived in Dawson until 1910. Their home was on Church and 7th Avenue.

The photographs are of Dr. Zera Strong and his family from 1885 to 1910. Includes portraits of Dr. Strong as a champion runner (1885), his wife, Jean, and daughter, Dorothy May, Dr. Strong in his home in Dawson City, Yukon and portraits of Helen Parker and her husband Bert Parker with Dr. Strong taken in 1899.
